Nestled in the scenic and mountainous region of Old Mahabaleshwar, this temple is one of the hill station’s most popular attractions. Inside the temple, you can find an idol of Lord Vishnu, two Gaumukhis, and 5 river halls. As the name implies, the temple is built at the convergence point of five rivers and pays tribute to the rivers Krishna, Venna, Koyna, Savitri, and Gayatri. 

The temple was built in the 13th century by Raja Singhandeo, the Yadava ruler of Devgiri. Legend suggests that it is linked to Savitri’s curse on the Trimurti of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. In the 16th century, Maratha Emperor Shivaji commissioned a project to improve its structure, further enhancing its significance in the history of Maharashtra. The temple remains a significant tourist spot in Mahabaleshwar to this very day and is visited by thousands of devotees every year.
