The Area

Located on a high plateau in the Amravati district of Maharashtra, resides a town called Chikhaldara. This town is best known for its history and wildlife sanctuary. Legend says that the town was ruled by King Kichak who was eventually killed by the almighty Bheem - the strongest brother amongst the Pandavas. Chikhaldara came to its name after the death of King Kichak. Today, the historical town is nothing short of a wildlife paradise. The place is filled with birds, animals and plants that will excite any wildlife lovers, including flying squirrels, mouse deer, porcupine, sloth bears and Tiger.
