Ganpatipule Temple

Ganpatipule

About

Ganpatipule Temple is the main attraction of the Ganpatipule Beach, situated 25 km away from the city of Ratnagiri. It houses a 400 year old idol statue of Lord Ganesha. Believe it or not, it is said that the idol sprung up from the Earth as there lies no evidence of it being built in history. The temple’s popularity lies in the fact that the idol faces West seemingly to guard its devotees in comparison to most idols that are built to face East. It is surrounded by the natural beauty of beaches and rests atop a hill. You can traverse the 1 km pathway on the hill which is also known as the Pradakshina taken to give respect to the holy heritage site.

The temple complex can be easily located as you take a walk on the pristine beach surrounding it. Enjoy a peaceful and pious time to yourself as you pay homage to the deity. The morning scenery makes you appreciate the landscape surrounding you while in the evenings, you can find the entrance lit up by a number of diyas which makes it a natural spectacle for the aarti. Your trip isn’t complete without the various adventure sport options available for tourists right beside the temple. Spirituality, history and adventure - a combination only available at the Ganpatipule temple.
