Natraja Mandir

Satara

About

Dedicated to Lord Natraja, a manifestation of Lord Shiva performing Tandav, the famous Natraja Mandir is located at Satara. Also known as Uttara Chidambaram Temple, the foundation of the temple was laid in 1981. Pujyasri Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Mahaswamiji visited Satara to attend the Vyasa Puja and expressed his desire for a Natraja Mandir. His ardent devotee, Samanna, a resident of Satara, gifted a plot of his land to build this temple. Built over three years, the Natraja Mandir in Satara is a smaller replica of the Chidambaram temple at Tamil Nadu with beautiful gopurams at the four gateways.

The South Indian styled architecture and intricate carvings catch the attention of all those who visit to pray to Lord Natraja. Along with the main temple, there are other shrines located in the premises which are built in architectural uniformity and are a sight for those who love intricate artwork. An architectural wonder that offers both peace and spirituality, the Natraja Mandir in Satara is a must-visit.
